#CountrCrush Martina Barrera-Hernandez, on Spring Style, Art-Based Inspiration and Plants Galore
Hi, I’m Martina Barrera-Hernandez
I’m so excited to share some of my favorites in wellness and beauty with you. But first a little bit about me. I was born in Canada and grew up in the Bay Area in California — but Spanish is my first language as both of my parents are from Argentina. I studied journalism at Northwestern and currently work in SF doing PR and marketing for start-ups. When I’m not at work, I love baking, hiking at the beach by my house in Pacifica, trying out new restaurants, going to the nursery to buy plants, and hanging out with my friends. Let’s get to know each other! Instagram: @first_fig.
Your friends come to you for:
Beauty, plant and baking advice (and if they need someone to dance around with).
What is your favorite item you own?
I love my plants. They make me so happy and always make spaces so beautiful.
Do you have a go-to outfit?
Most days you'll find me in a dress with a soft sweatshirt and booties. I've always felt my best in a dress -- as a kid I would lose my s*&! if my parents tried to dress me in anything but. Wearing a dress and something comfy, like a layered sweatshirt, balances my feminine side and more playful soft side. Love a good leather jacket too!
How are you changing up your style for spring?
I'm trying to incorporate more color and be more playful this spring. Embrace color and get rid of the things that don't make me feel beautiful.
Where DO YOU GET your inspiration from?
Nature, Monet, and the people I love.
If you had to choose one product to use for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A heavy moisturizer. You can never be too moisturized and glowy!
What are your self-care tips?
Bake, watch Gilmore Girls, walk on the beach, play with eyeshadow, take a bubble bath, clean, light a candle, nap, drink tea, laughing with a friend. Whatever feels best in that moment.
